               Film Synopsis - Long:
“A good swindler always knows how to say what you want to hear,” remarks one of the characters in this suspenseful tale of stolen identity. Fresh from competing in Sundance, writer-director Christopher Zalla’s debut feature evokes the dark side of the American dream. The setting is a glittering New York City where hard-working immigrants can’t seem to catch a break and smooth- talking conmen are always sure of finding an easy mark.   Fleeing a criminal past that is literally dogging his heels, Juan chances upon a truck transporting illegal immigrants from Mexico to New York City. During the journey he meets Pedro, an illiterate native of Puebla, who’s in search of the father he’s never met. A superb conman, Juan takes advantage of Pedro’s naïveté and kindness. By the time they reach Brooklyn, Pedro’s dreams have turned into a nightmare after he awakens to find his possessions missing.

Zalla has assembled a stellar ensemble of Spanish- speaking actors. Veteran performer Jesús Ochoa brings a sympathetic dignity to the role of the father, while newcomers
Armando Hernández (Juan) and Jorge Adrián Espindola (Pedro) excel as the antithetical young men. Awarded the 2007 Sundance Grand Jury Prize in Dramatic Features.
