Film Synopsis - Long:
Actor Diego Luna (Y Tu Mamá También) steps behind the camera for this heartfelt documentary about the life and career of his countryman, Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez .  Not only the film narrates the achievements of a champion, but it also allows us to understand the human and social aspects of the life of one of the most important personalities of recent Mexican history.

Chavez is famous in international boxing circles, having held five world titles, with a near-record 89 straight professional wins. But like Muhammad Ali in the US, Chavez is in his native Mexico, more than a boxer. He has become a national hero and, as a small town boy who made it big, a symbol of success.

Combining interviews with outstanding characters in the boxing industry, journalism, sports and politics —together with an intimate portrayal of Chávez in his everyday life and the relationship with his son, this film leaves a blank space for personal conclusions; it is an excercise that attempts to understand the complex link between fame and politics.

Luna clearly loves and honors this icon, and his infectious devotion infuses Chávez, and the audience, with admiration for the legend and the man.
