Premiere of “Sugar” to Kick Off Second Dominican Global Film Festival

Santo Domingo, November 17, 2008
The Second Edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival will open on Wednesday November 19 with the premiere of the film “Sugar” which tells the story of a Dominican baseball player who wants to make it to the Big Leagues to pull his family out of poverty. The presentation of the film will be attended by some 1,400 guests as well as several dominican professional baseball players from the US Big Leagues, such as Pedro Martínez, David Ortiz, Hanley Ramírez, Robinson Canó, Moisés Alou, Alfonso Soriano, Miguel Tejada, Miguel Batista, Melky Cabrera and Odalys Pérez.

Begins Volunteer Recruitment

The selection process for volunteers to help with the organization and development of the Dominican Global Film Festival will get underway on Monday, October 27, in order to prepare for the Festival, which will take place November 19-23, 2008. Meetings with those wishing to join the Festival Volunteer Staff will be held in the five cities hosting the festival: Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Higüey and Nagua.
