They make us cry, they make us laugh, they even make us jump out of our seats at times. Films engage our feelings, play with our emotions and evoke psychological responses. They entertain us and touch us; there is no doubt about that. But do films transcend and influence more than fashion trends and particular moments in our lives? Can films help us become agents of change? Are our societies better because we have films? Can films be tools for national development or educational reform? Can they make us take a stand and move us into action and help us gain cultural sensitivity? Our panelists believe films can do just that. These filmmakers have dedicated their talent to making movies that are shaping and changing the world one film at a time. If you have an idea or a message you want to turn into a compelling and powerful film, this panel is for you. |

These panels, comprising a host of Dominican Stars, will give an opportunity to celebrate their respective successes and achievements on the internatinal stage. They also look forward to sharing thier own personal stories with fellow Dominican citizens, hoping to excite and inspire.

Film critique is an area of the film industry facilitating the dissemination of the characteristics or values of a film among the public and the rest of the industry; it also contributes to our visual education. In spite of always being under the limelight, the reviewer must adopt a strict work ethics, maintaining its independence and loyalty towards the art of cinema and toward the audience who listens to his opinions. This is why reviews must be aligned with a set of criteria and aesthetic rules, not always written. It’s not an easy task but not impossible, as our guests are demonstrating! |
