Dominican actor Juan Fernández´s 3-hour acting workshop at the
Global Foundation Auditorium was an entertaining talk and
exchange of experiences in Spanish from an actor who has spent
several decades in the movie Mecca of Hollywood. Nearly fifty
people sat in on the workshop and actively participated in
Fernández´s various exercises.

Global Film Festival Honors Elba McAllister

Adding to the already exciting novelties underway during this
film extravaganza, the II edition of the Dominican Global Film
Festival is honoring Elba McAllister in a special tribute
celebration which is expected to become an annual event of the
film festival. Elba McAllister is co-founder, partner and
executive president of the Colombian film distribution company
Cineplex, which is celebrating its 15th year of promoting
alternative films in Latin America.

The II Dominican
Global Film Festival Opens Today with Grand Premiere of Sugar

The second edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival will be
inaugurated tonight with the premier of the film Sugar, a North
American film that tells the story of a Dominican ball player
who wants to make it to the Big Leagues to lift his family out
of poverty. Some 1,400 guests are expected to attend the Gala
opening, including various Dominican professional Major League
baseball playerss. Dominican President Leonel Fernández will
preside over the gala event.

those who are celebrating this year's film extravaganza underway
around the country this week. To assure that children and young
people feel welcome, the Ministry of Education has been divided
up into six Regional Educational Offices corresponding to the
cities where the festival is being held: Santo Domingo II, Santo
Domingo III, Santiago Nagua, Puerto Playa and Higüey.
