Captain Abu Raed, a feature film about friendship and courage, captivated the teenage Dominican spectators for 110 minutes at the main hall of the National Palace. The students, between 12 and 15 years old, grew up a bit after watching the film – they entered in a world much like their own…but different: Jordan, an Arab country.
Captain Abu Raed is the creation of a hero, within the parameters of a reality molded in the fiction that unfolds in the film´s narration. He is a man who, despite having been disappointed, is still hopeful and kind. He helps a family, a mother and two children, get away from a man who is mistreating them. He wants them to aspire to their hopes and dreams.
Panel of experts
The panel of experts included part of the film´s cast, headed by Rana Sultan, one of the main actresses, David Pritchard, executive producer and Kenneth Kokin, Producer.
According to David Pritchard, the main goal of the film is “to show the world we live in. It is a film about life. What I want is that when people see Arabs, they know that they are people just like us.”
Rana Sultan expressed her delight with this film in that there is no film industry at all in Jordan and that this is the first movie to be made there in 50 years. As such, “it seeks to cross the cultural barrier that exists in the world,” explained the actress. |
