The world's cinema was looking into Dominican Republic

NALIP opened a chapter in Dominican Republic
The National Association of Latino Independent Producers will work in the country supporting the Dominican cinematographic productions
The Spanish film “Volver” left its track at the Festival

Miami, FL, November 14, 2006.- During the DR Global Film Festival, Dominican Republic had the National Association of Independent Latino Producers.(NALIP) supporting cinematographic producers and documentaries in their film projects within the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival. In addition the Spanish film “Volver” was lighted in the program. This is the latest film from director Pedro Almodóvar.

The project NALIP, based in the USA, intends to support its members such as producers with financial aid, professionals training within the different tasks, workshops, curses, scholarships for different studies in the country as well as outside; among others.

NALIP was founded seven years ago and it was created by a group of producers, educators and activists of Hispanic means, as a result of a crisis on the latin documentary in the USA, said Kathryn Galán, Executive Director. The main idea of this project is to work specifically with cinematography students so they can blend in the cinematographic media accordingly.

On the other hand, the festival had Lola Dueñas, actress that participated in the film Volver, Spanish film directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The actress explained the magnificent experience she had working with the Spanish director in this film that is already up for an Oscar in the next edition of the Academy.

“Out of the all directors I've known he is the one that gets involved with the actors and that makes the whole process a lot easier; I wanted Pedro to call me for many years and invite me to participate in one of his films. Working with him has been incredible, a luxury", mentioned the actress.

Dueñas was part of the stars that arrived at Dominican Republic to be a part of the Festival.

Now, the Caribbean country becomes the latin center of the new global cinematographic trends with the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival.
