The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival Announces the 11 Finalists in the II Short Film Competition

The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF) announced the 11 finalists in the II Short Film Competition, among which the three winners will be selected. These 11 shorts will be presented during the screening days of the Film Festival. Three other short films, produced by Global Media Arts Institute students, will also be screened.
The organizers of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival revealed the 11 finalists for the II Dominican Short Film Competition, selected from a total of 50 approved projects. The 11 finalists are: Do you Remember?, Dad is in Heaven, Morena's Disgrace, The Photo, Correspondence, To die in Montecristi, Luis Pie, Third, If I Could Have Saved You, Hispaniola, and The Sisters.
The work of the 11 finalists will be shown during the days of the Festival, before the screening of each film, in the various host cities and venues, so that the works may be appreciated and valued by a larger audience.
The three winners of the first, second and third places will be announced on Sunday the 21st, at the closing of the 4th DRGFF, at the National Theatre. The first place winning film will be screened during the event.
Four films made by students of FUNGLODE’s Global Multimedia Institute (IGM), which were out of competition, will be added to the list of short films. These are: The Call, Jafra, Today I won’t See You, and The First Day of my Life.
A jury made of experienced audiovisual professionals from the Dominican Republic and abroad conducted the selection of the finalists. The synopsis and the technical specifications of the selected short films and all the approved projects are detailed on the Festival website, at:

The place, time and the date of screening of the eleven short films can be consulted on the same page under the Program section.
The winner of the first place will receive a video camera, a scholarship to study in Los Angeles and the sponsorship of the Dominican audiovisual production company Panamericana to produce a short film. The second place winner will receive an iMac, and the winner of the third place will receive an iPad. Both the second and third places will receive the support of Miraved Studios for the filming of their next short.
