Santo Domingo, June 15 - 2010
Organizers of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival announced the call for entries for the II Short Film Competition. Participants can present their short films any time between June 15 and September 15, 2010.
Eleven finalists will be chosen to receive three prizes.
The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF) called on Dominican
filmmakers to enter their work into this year’s II Dominican Short Film
Competition where they will have a chance to win among first, second and third
prizes.
The entry period runs from June 15th and ends on September 15th, 2010. More
information and contest rules can be found in detail at the DRGFF website:
http://www.drglobalfilmfestival.org
In keeping with contest regulations, the short films must be at least 15 minutes
in length. The categories established include fiction, animation, documentary
and fantasy films.
Out of the total number of participants 11 finalists will be selected and prizes
will be awarded to the first three winners. First place winner will receive a
video camera and a scholarship to study in Los Angeles and make a short film
there under the auspices of the Dominican film production company, Panamericana.
Second prize winner will receive an Imac and third prize winner will be given an
Ipad.
The jury will be made up of national and international experts.
Last year, 32 films took part in the first edition of the Dominican Short Film
Competition and there was only one winner.
Last year’s winning film, “Pedro of Bella Vista and his Dream” (“Pedro de Bella
Vista y su sueño”) , will be shown this year at the “New York International
Latino Film Festival (NYLIFF).”
