Santo Domingo, September 16, 2010
The show will run for one hour starting Thursday September 16th on Digital Channel 15 and CTN at different times. The content will include a variety of reports, interviews and news about the invited guests and stars, the training activities and films being shown at the DRGFF. It will also broadcast news and views about the film industry of the Dominican Republic.
“Rumbo al Festival” (On the Road to the Festival) is the annual television broadcast of the goings-on of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, replete with special reports, interviews and all the activities that make up the starting point of the Festival. Broadcasts begin on Thursday September 16 on Digital Chanel 15 and CTN.
Taína Rodríguez and Manuel Amézquita host the one-hour shows on Digital 15 on Thursdays at 8:30 pm as well as on Monday at 9:00 pm and Thursdays at 11:00 on CTN.
The weekly broadcast of Rumbo al Festival will continue through Thursday November 4, 2010. Beginning on Monday, November 8 until Friday the 12th, the program will then run on a daily basis.
The last two shows will be aired on Monday November 15 and Tuesday the 16th, the eve of the opening of the DRGFF.
The program, written and produced under the direction of Amelia del Mar Hernández, is the lead-up to the IV Dominican Republic Global Film Festival which will run from November 16 to 22 in the cities of Santo Domingo, Santiago, Nagua, Puerto Plata, Cap Cana, Higüey and neighboring Haiti.
In an effort to achieve the objective of introducing the Festival, the TV programs will contain a variety of reports and interviews on a broad spectrum of topics related to the Festival and film in the Dominican Republic. The shows will play fragments of the movies to be screened during the Festival and commentaries from the artists and invited filmmakers.
“On the Road to the Festival” also fulfills a didactic function. It offers programs and interviews that give people the opportunity to better relate to the different areas of filmmaking. It also deals with questions people may have about the legislation and production of film in our country.
The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival is an initiative of the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD).
