FILM SYNOPSIS:

One of the circumstances that has made very difficult the recovery of Argentina is the enormous and profound loss of social, intellectual and cultural capital that the country suffered following a massive exile, mainly the result of the civil-military dictatorships and the political violence of the 60’s and 70’s. The exile includes the exodus of intellectuals and culture experts, scientists, humanists, sociologists, world-class professionals who understood that they had no future in their country, or who were forced to leave out of fear for their lives.

Many of them were skilled professionals, artists and culture experts, academics, scientists and university students about to conclude their studies and who, presumably, today would occupy important political, social and economic posts. This is an entire generation who in the eighties and nineties would have helped provide the incentive and renovation that Argentina needed.

We analyze and assess this loss: the loss for the absentees to leave behind their affections and hopes to contribute to the development of their homeland, and the loss for the country, which sees how thousands of fellow professionals progress academically in third countries thanks to the contribution of the Argentine state. The "Brain drain" is now working and contributing in countries which, paradoxically, are creditors of the large foreign debt of Argentina.

And let us imagine, ask ourselves what could Argentina have become had she been able to count on that missing generation...?
