A small event of gargantuan proportions puts two neighbors in an arduous and tense confrontation over a small window facing directly into each other’s houses. Everyday life; painful enough as it is, is about to get a little more complicated for Victor, the rude/offensive type individual, and Leonardo, a well respected designer who lives in Buenos Aires.
Leonardo enjoys a successful career as a world-class furniture designer and the recognition that the position can bring from his peers and students; he resides in Casa Curutchet, the only house built by world renowned architect Le Corbusier in all of the Americas. Leonardo is having a rough time at home with his wife and kid who are not happy with him and things are about to get uglier. Meanwhile, Victor has decided to put a hole in the wall of his house facing directly to Leonardo’s living room, in order to steal a bit of sunshine that emanates from Le Corbusier’s striking structured large windows. The loud noises mixed with Victor’s intrusions create an atmosphere of fear and chaos around Leonardo’s family; the situation is anxiously getting out of control.
Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat bring to life an original and disturbing story that is both witty and enjoyable. The Man Next Door won Best Cinematography Award in the World Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2010, and best Argentine Feature Film in Mar Del Plata Festival.
