The DR Global Film Festival has an inclusive spirit and a strong educational and outreach component. In order to achieve the objective of attracting the projects from studios and independent producers to the country, the Festival complements the work the Global Media Arts Institute does throughout the year with a broad program of panels, workshops and master classes (15 in total) to further the training of young filmmakers and continuing the education of full fletched professionals. The Festival wants to bring into the fold all groups of Dominican society by offering participative panels and discussions (10) around the subjects brought up by the films shown, all of them referred to the challenges most individuals must face sooner or later in this globalized world. All these proposals are of interest; all are engaging and stimulating. To register for the panels please contact Katherine Acosta sending an email or calling

Two, full day workshops led by a second-year UCLA Master of Fine Arts student around the topic: “Navigating the film industry through available resources” The workshop will focus on several key aspects of film production, including how to navigate the US film industry – key players, organizations, institutions, and companies-- their areas of interest, niche markets or investment intentions, and how to plan necessary stages of initiation and production. Workshop attendees will learn about resources available to film makers, and how to access them, as well as how to use them in their work.

Actors express ideas and create images in theater, film, radio, television, and other performing arts media. They interpret a writer’s script to entertain, inform, or instruct an audience. Although many actors, work in New York or Los Angeles, far more work in other places. They perform in local or regional television studios, theaters, or film production companies, often creating advertising or training films or small-scale independent movies.
What kind of training is required? What's the money like? How much experience do you need? Where can you get experience?...Come join your favorite International and Dominican actors for a discussion and their insights into this most challenging, but rewarding of crafts, plus the professional and personal traits that set them apart from the rest.
