In addition to being organized by non-profit organizations, the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival is distinguished for its role in promoting the Dominican Republic as an excellent location to make and produce films, thus contributing to the country’s economic growth and competitiveness.
Mission
The Dominican Global Film Festival presents a selection of the best international, dramatic and documentary films to enrich the country’s film culture and to bring the seventh art to all sectors of Dominican society. The Festival contributes to raising awareness and understanding of global issues through stories about events and people that have left a mark on our lives. It uses film as a way to promote and encourage discussion about social issues, politics and economics.
Goals
To enrich the film culture of the Dominican Republic.
To show a wide variety of films that are generally not available to the Dominican public.

Edward James Olmos was born on February 24, 1947 into a Mexican-American family in California. Raised in Los Angeles, he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. An iMac; the possibility of participating in the Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico), the International Film Festival of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) or the Havana International Film Festival (Cuba) with all expenses paid. The winner will also receive support to make his/her next short film under the auspices of the Dominican film production company, Panamericana.

Director's BiographySelf taught from a young age, Andrés Ramírez has since directed and produced over 7 feature films. In 2007 Entremedio (A Place Within) his first feature film has traveled to more than dozen film festivals in the USA and Latin America. Since then, Andres has made Not Even the Devil, Elite, Witness. In 2011, Executive Producer Manolo Travieso hired him to direct and co-executive produce Desconocidos, shot entirely in Hollywood. Mr. Ramirez’s movies have had critical and theatrical box office success in Puerto Rico. Currently he is the youngest filmmaker in Puerto Rico to be awarded the “Convocatoria” funds by the Film Commission of Puerto Rico to produce and direct his next feature film, Demented.
