FILM SYNOPSIS
Victor, a 17-year-old wheelbarrow carter, dreams of being famous. The Market world where he works is hostile and competitive and there are thousands just like him waiting to get hired to carry something. Victor understands that he needs to hustle to make some money this day. He hears about a strange offer to carry 7 boxes of unknown goods for a nice crisp $100-dollar bill. However, the owner of the boxes rips the bill in half, gives Victor one piece and promises the other half upon delivery.
Getting around the huge Market, the size of 8 city blocks, might seem easy but things get complicated when someone steals one of the boxes, he loses his cell phone he needs to communicate with the owner of the boxes and the police surround the market searching for something that Victor is totally unaware of. To add to Victor’s stress, there is no shortage of wheelbarrow carters who would also love to have the job of hauling the 7 boxes.
Winner of the Film in Construction of the San Sebastián Film Festival, 2011. 7 Boxes had its world premiere in September 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
