(Santo Domingo, Nov 16, 2012).- As part of the 6th Dominican Global Film Festival, the law firm of Cabral & Díaz, Legal Advisors, in their support of Dominican film, held an interesting and enjoyable discussion directed mainly at film creators, producers and distributors. They analyzed the legal aspects, from the national and international point of view, that must be taken into account in the distribution of films, beginning with the creation of a film and authors rights.
The event was co-organized with the Global Media Arts Institute, the DR Global Film Festival and FUNGLODE with the participation of Jose María Cabral A., founding member of the Cabral & Díaz, Law Firm and Legal Advisors, and Fernando Ramírez, of the Law Office of Fernando Ramírez, both attorneys with vast experience in film issues and legislation.
Presentations from speakers covered topics such as the creation of authors rights conceived with the advent of intellectual work (book or script) about which a film project would be developed and culminate in a film; until their exhibition, distribution and successive transfer of copyright ownership and/or discharging of the titles in question achieve the sale or marketing of said rights. They also touched on the principle contractual clauses to be taken into account in the case of international distribution and granting of the of user licenses and contracts for purchasing literary options.
During the course of the activity, Mr. Cabral who has 30 years of professional experience in his field, introduced the new name and logo of which was conceived with the purpose of consolidating and aligning the image of the firm with its current positioning without losing recognition of its vast trajectory and tradition of providing services.
