In addition to being organized by non-profit organizations, the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival is distinguished for its role in promoting the Dominican Republic as an excellent location to make and produce films, thus contributing to the country’s economic growth and competitiveness.
Mission
The Dominican Global Film Festival presents a selection of the best international, dramatic and documentary films to enrich the country’s film culture and to bring the seventh art to all sectors of Dominican society. The Festival contributes to raising awareness and understanding of global issues through stories about events and people that have left a mark on our lives. It uses film as a way to promote and encourage discussion about social issues, politics and economics.
Goals
To enrich the film culture of the Dominican Republic.
To show a wide variety of films that are generally not available to the Dominican public.

An iMac; the possibility of participating in the Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico), the International Film Festival of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) or the Havana International Film Festival (Cuba) with all expenses paid. The winner will also receive support to make his/her next short film under the auspices of the Dominican film production company, Panamericana.

This is a one-day seminar with ample interaction with the participating public. Learn how to get the most out of your DSLR digital reflex camera, sound recording techniques, analysis of a piece.
MONDAY NOVEMBER 12 AND TUESDAY NOVEMBER
A Master Class given by the renowned British filmmaker, Philip Bloom. This will be two-days of intensive learning and interaction with the guru of HD digital cameras.

(Santo Domingo, October 1, 2012) – World renowned filmmaker and pioneer in DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) Philip Bloom will visit the Dominican Republic to give a series of specialized workshops.
The Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), the Global Media Arts Institute, the Dominican Global Film Festival, the General Directorate of 
Film and the Palacio del Cine (Film Palace) have the pleasure of inviting all those interested in participating in this practical seminar with one of the industry’s most important digital filmmaker.
This British director of photography and professional filmmaker will be in the country as of November 10 in the installations of the Palacio del Cine at the Agora Mall where he will be giving a seminar that will be interactive and participatory with the attending public. The objective of this first contact will be to share experiences and techniques that can be used with high level equipment level as well as the necessary tools for making excellent videos with less sophisticated equipment.
Bloom has spent these recent years teaching new digital filmmakers the techniques they can use to get the same “look” as traditional, high-priced film by using HD video equipment that is more accessible to filmmakers.
