Sol Caribe Was Screened in Caletón Beach (Cap Cana) to the Rhythm of Son, Bachata and Merengue.
Sol Caribe, a documentary directed by Félix Limardo was shown yesterday in Capa Cana, to an audience that welcomed the Caribbean sounds with opens arms; the sounds and rhythms that have made the land of sun a live show around the world.
The documentary brought together some of the most important figures in Dominican music such as Milly Quezada, Fefita, Johny Ventura, José Manuel Calderón, Francisco Ulloa and Francis Santana, among others. Some of the musicians attended the documentary’s preview along with executive producer Víctor Dumé.
Through Sol Caribe, Limardo seeks to show how Latin music forms part of a country’s identity, how it moves and transforms the souls of those who know and appreciate it. Son, bachata or merengue are rhythms that have been exported around the world and have served to familiarize people with the tradition and culture not just of the Dominican Republic but all of Latin America.
Sol Caribe will officially premiere on Sunday November 22 in the National Theater at the closing ceremony of the III Dominican Republic Global Film Festival 2009.
