The short film takes central stage in this rendez vous of world cinema. This is a new feature of the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival this year. It’s purpose is to encourage and recognize the endeavors of young filmmakers.  

The selection was made among 32 accepted Works, which, according to the bases and regulations of the Competition, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. The categories are fiction, animation, documentary and science fiction.

The members of the jury are the Dominicans Tanya Valette, Director, International TV and Film School in San Antonio de los Banos (EICTV), Cuba, and Arturo Rodriguez, film critic and Special Film Advisor to the Executive; the Cuban Eliseo Altunaga, scriptwriter and professor, EICTV, and the American Irving Vincent, multimedia director, New York University Opportunity Programs and Vice President, Board of Directors and Program Director, One Race Global Film Foundation.

The winner will be announced Sunday, November 22nd, at Teatro Nacional, during the closing ceremony of the III DR Global Film Festival at 7pm. Come and support your favorite director and short and enjoy a real Dominican fiesta that will close the Festival with the screening of the film Sol Caribe.
