La página web del Festival de Cine Global Dominicano es distinguida en los Premios Webby en la categoria de Eventos & Retransmision en Directo www.drglobalfilmfestival.orgThe Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF) – an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) – is launching a contest to find the best Dominican film shorts the Country has to offer.

This groundbreaking competition, which opens July 6 and runs through September 18, is designed to allow emerging filmmakers the opportunity to create new work and premiere it on the big screen. The lucky award winner of the best film short will not only get to showcase their film at the prestigious international event, they also receive a digital camera, tripod and light. Ten runners-up will also get the coveted opportunity to screen their works at the Festival, which this year takes place in seven provinces from November 18-22. All winning entries receive a certificate of participation as well as a Diploma on behalf of DRGFF.

Submissions will be accepted in the categories of fiction, animation, documentaries, video clip and fantasy.  No foreign films will be considered and entrants must be Dominican nationals, 18 or over. Film shorts must have a Dominican director, and a minimum of 70% local participation. Films should be 15 minutes max., including credits, can be color or black and white, and in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. Only films shot in DVCAM and MINIDV Cam are permitted. Each entrant must submit one (1) copy of the short in DVD format.

Winning entries will be selected by a panel of Dominican and international experts on November 20, and notified by email.

This is a unique opportunity to make your presence felt at the Festival, expand your networks, and showcase your art nationally and internationally to film industry professionals.
