In a press conference, the directors of the Festival gave the first details of the 7th edition of the event, to be held from November 12-20th in Santiago, Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, Nagua, Cap Cana and Jacmel.
The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival Opens Its 7th Edition In Santiago With Biodegradable
(Santiago, Wednesday October 16, 2013 ) – The Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (FCGD) announced the opening of its 7th edition on Wednesday November 13, at 6:30 pm, in the Grand Theater of Cibao Region with stars in attendance and screening of the film Biodegradable. Director of FCGD Omar de la Cruz made the announcement along with Jochy Sanchez, Deputy Minister of Culture, and Genaro Rodriguez, director of the Santiago Regional University Center (CURSA).
At the meeting Arleny Lantigua highlighted a special dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the Festival.
Mr. De la Cruz said that the Festival will have screening venues for the 2013 edition at the Grand Theater of Cibao Region, the Bella Terra Cinema Palace and the Regional University Center of Santiago (CURSA).
De la Cruz also invited journalists to apply for press accreditation through the festival website: www.festivaldecineglobal.org/.
Five screening venues in the Dominican Republic – Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Cap Cana and Nagua as well as Jacmel in Haiti will hold their Festival screenings after the inauguration at the National Theatre, on Tuesday night November 12th, with the roll out of the Carpet and parade of guest stars.
Biodegradable , the film that will start the screenings in Santiago, is Juan Basanta’s first feature film. The screenplay is by Marcel Fondeur and Juan Basanta, and is based on the adaptation of Jorge Luis Núñez Pascual’s novel, “A Rose in the Middle of Nowhere,” by William Mejia. The cast includes noted cinematographer Claudio Chea as well as a distinguished actors including Liz Gallardo, Rayniel Rufino, Liche Ariza, Hemky Wood, Cesar Evora, Paul Calderon, Cecilia Garcia, Angel Haché and Giovanny Cruz.
