Festival de Cine Global Dominicano
Sobre el Festival de Cine Global
Corto Global (Global Shorts) is a section of the Festival geared toward new student talent, amateurs or professionals who are becoming involved in making short audiovisual creations of any type or genre, including fiction, documentary, experimental and animation.

As such, Corto Global encourages the participation of directors between the ages of 18 and 45 years of age who may enter an unlimited number of short films that will compete for a variety of prizes to be awarded on the closing night of the Dominican Global Film Festival.

Among the objectives of the Dominican Global Film Festival is to become part of an international forum for the recognition and dissemination of quality film, new talent and emerging cinematographers. Now in our 7th year, the FCGD is broadening the reach of its short film competition to include films from abroad while giving space to local producers who have traditionally been the main element in past competitions.

As in the past, a qualified jury of experts will select 11 finalists who, in addition to receiving recognition from the FCGD, will be competing for the following cash prizes in US dollars:

First Place: 2,500 dollars
Second Place: 1,700 dollars
Third Place: 1,000 dollars
People’s Choice Award: 500 dollars

In a break from past competitions, the director of the short film entry can be of any nationality and the filming of the short can have been done in any country in the world. The film must be previously unpublished and have been made sometime after January 1, 2013. The format of the short film, beginning with this edition of FCGD, must be digital.

The short films must be no longer than 15 minutes in length, including the credits. If the original language of the short film is not Spanish, the film must contain subtitles in Spanish.

For the first time, the FCGD is giving a People’s Choice Award. Voting in this category will be done through the Festival’s official webpage: www.festivaldecineglobal.org

With this initiative, the Dominican Global Film Festival seeks to promote the short film industry in the Dominican Republic and increase the visibility of local productions among the national and international film communities.
